Nathaniel Gozansky
Nathaniel E. Gozansky joined the Emory Law faculty in 1967 and has made significant contributions to the field of law throughout his career. In 2012, he retired from Emory Law after forty-five years of dedicated service, earning the esteemed title of Professor Emeritus.
During his tenure at Emory, Professor Gozansky held various positions of leadership and served in important roles within the legal community. In 1968, he served as the Regional Director of the Office of Legal Services, showcasing his commitment to providing legal assistance to those in need. From 1970 to 1972, he served as the Director of the Council on Legal Education Opportunity(CLEO), where he contributed to promoting diversity and access to legal education.
Professor Gozansky’s dedication extended beyond Emory Law. He served as the Chair of the Association of American Law Schools Section on Family and Juvenile Law from 1973 to 1974 and sat on the Board of Governors of the Society of American Law Teachers from 1974 to 1977. His expertise in legal education led him to serve as an Accreditation Inspector for over 20 American Bar Association(ABA)-approved law schools since 1972, ensuring the maintenance of high standards in legal education. He remains an active member of the American Bar Association Section on Legal Education.
Throughout his career, Professor Gozansky shared his knowledge and experience with other institutions, serving as a visiting professor at seven different law schools. He also served as an arbitrator and hearing officer at both federal and state levels. Professor Gozansky’s contributions extended internationally as well. He led legal study tours for judges and lawyers to countries like Kenya, China, and the former Soviet Union, furthering legal education and cross-cultural understanding.
His scholarly focus encompassed family law and legal education, with his publications making notable contributions to these fields. Professor Gozansky’s impact on legal education, commitment to service, and dedication to his students and colleagues leave a lasting legacy at Emory Law School and within the legal community.
