Mary and Charles Ginden

Mary and Charles Ginden established the Mary K. and Charles B. Ginden Scholarship in 2006 to provide scholarships for Emory College of Arts and Sciences students who have a demonstrated interest in the arts.

Charles Ginden received a bachelor’s degree from Emory University in 1955 and went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force before beginning his banking career with Trust Company of Georgia. He retired from SunTrust Bank in 1998 as Executive Vice President. Mary Ginden graduated from Kalamazoo College and later attended the University of Michigan.

Charles has been involved at Emory since graduation in many important roles including: a member of the Emory Healthcare board of directors, Woodruff Health Sciences board of trustees and Emory Clinic board of directors, past president of the Atlanta Area Emory Club, past president and treasurer of the Association of Emory Alumni, and past chair of the Emory board of visitors. He was elected to the Emory University board of trustees in 1983, served as Secretary of the Emory University board of trustees, and was elevated to emeritus status in November 2004. In addition to his service to the University, he was also awarded the prestigious Emory Medal in 1987. Outside of his service to Emory, he has also served on the board of trustees of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
