Kathy Buckman Gibson
The Kathy Buckman Gibson Scholarship was established by Kathy Buckman Gibson herself, a distinguished business executive known for her exceptional leadership as President and Chief Operating Officer of Buckman International. Kathy’s impressive educational background includes an undergraduate degree from Duke University and dual degrees—an MBA and a law degree—from Emory University.
In 1993, Kathy joined Buckman Laboratories International, Inc. as Vice-President-Legal and Corporate Secretary. Demonstrating her capabilities and commitment, she rose through the ranks and assumed the role of Chairman of the Board of the Buckman parent company in 2000.
Kathy’s dedication to empowering women and advancing education is evident in her role as a Trustee of the Women’s Foundation for a Greater Memphis. Additionally, she serves as a board member of the National Civil Rights Museum, where she contributes to preserving and promoting civil rights history. Kathy’s previous involvements include serving on the national board of directors for Girls Incorporated and holding the position of Treasurer for the organization. She has also made impactful contributions as a past board member of United Way of the Mid-South, Girls Incorporated of Memphis, Memphis In May International Festival, Mid-South Reading Alliance, St. Mary’s Episcopal School, the Assisi Foundation, and Memphis BioWorks Foundation.
In recognition of her achievements and contributions, Kathy Buckman Gibson received the Distinguished Alumni Award from Emory University School of Law and has earned a reputation as an industry leader. She continues to make a positive impact through KBG Technologies, LLC, her own venture specializing in chemical products, services, and technologies. As the president and CEO of KBG Technologies, Kathy has established herself as a trailblazing entrepreneur, focusing on specialty chemistries and smart technologies for the water treatment and pulp and paper markets.
The Kathy Buckman Gibson Scholarship, established with Kathy’s generosity, aims to support and empower students who demonstrate outstanding leadership potential, academic excellence, and a commitment to making a positive impact on their communities. Through this scholarship, Kathy’s legacy of leadership and dedication to education will continue to inspire future generations of students at Emory University School of Law.
