John Latham
John Latham is a partner at Alston & Bird in Atlanta where he focuses on securities class action litigation, derivative suits, and regulatory investigations. John also counsels boards through corporate crises and internal investigations. he has represented officers and directors at a number of fortune 500 companies throughout his career. Since 2001, John has also served as the firm’s national chair or co-chair of diversity and inclusion. John is committed to seeing that every individual has the same opportunity to succeed as he did at Alston & Bird.
John has been listed in the Best Lawyers in America ,Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, and Georgia Super Lawyers magazine. He has been appointed special Assistant Attorney General for the State of Georgia Teachers and Employees Retirement Fund and Office of Treasury and Fiscal Services on securities matters. He is chairman of the Georgia Corporate Code Revision Subcommittee on Officer and Director Liability and Indemnification.
As a student at Emory Law, John served as research editor of the Emory Law Journal and participated in the Moot Court Society, for which he received the Giles S. Rich National Moot Court Award. John’s wife, Sheri, teaches ballet at Emory University. Together, they have created a need-based scholarship, the Latham Law Scholarship. They have also contributed to the Donna and Marvin Schwartz Center for Performing Arts. John was appointed to the Emory Law Advisory Board in 2017.
