Dr. J. Albert Westbrook
Dr. J. Albert Westbrook established the Westbrook Scholarship in honor of his wife. Viola G. Westbrook retired as a senior lecturer in German Studies with over forty years of teaching at Emory University. Along with her studies at the universities of Hamburg and Frankfurt, she received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hobart & William Smith College as well as a Master of Arts from Emory University in 1973. Dr. Westbrook graduated from the US Military Academy at West Point and went on to receive a Master of Arts in Comparative Politics in 1971 from Emory University. He served in Vietnam and was awarded three Silver Stars as a combat commander in the 101st Airborne. He returned to his studies at Emory and took his Doctorate in Political Philosophy in 1983.
